The build up started early Friday with the arrangements for transport, there was a buzz of excitement in the team. JP had one task ( to bring the training balls ) which she failed and the donkey vote had been decided without even a blow of a whistle.
Newly appointed captain Alice gave her rally cry and the team ran onto the pitch.
The first 20 minutes saw Prescot dominate, Grey's defense was strong. Alice made save after save and after the award of a penalty flick Alice stared down the taker. The side line supporters were silent (all 3 of them). Boom the flick was taken, Alice guessed right and deflected the shot away from goal.
Prescot did eventually make the break through and quickly scored a second. Having dropped down a division last year Prescot's strength and speed started to tell. The attacks were few and far between for Grey's. Half time saw Grey's regroup but with the blow of the umpires whistle came another Prescot attack. JP confirmed her Donkey status with a green card but even the opposition didn't understand why it was given. By now the score was 4.0, Greys were on the attack Broady drove into Prescot's half and with a quick one two struck the ball into the D, Ve anticipated the move and hit the ball into the Net. 4.1.
Unfortunately it wasn't the start of Greys comeback and Prescot netted a further 2. Final score 6.1 but plenty of positives to drive 'The Purple Army' forward.
