On a sunny Saturday afternoon, Didsbury Greys 2nds gathered at Castlebrook school to play Bury 1s. After a quick dance lesson we started our pregame team talk and warm up.
We started the first half and we battled for a possession and after much running and working on switching the ball across we managed to play off the rebounds and Shandy shot us into a 1-0 lead. The remainder of the first half was a bit scrappy but we worked hard to not concede a goal and were relieved when the half time whistle blew and it gave us a chance to regroup and also catch our breath.
After a quick half time talk and discussion of where we were going wrong we came back to the second half all guns blazing. We worked to set up one-twos down the channels of the pitch and to keep up the energy and talking. We managed to secure another goal bringing us up to 2-0 through Minxs' keen attacking. We fought hard with some excellent work from the defence and GK Alice however the opposition managed to gain a goal bringing the score to 2-1. At this point we all didn't want a repeat of the previous weeks 2-2 draw and dug in to make sure we didn't concede another goal. The whole team really worked together to ensure we came out with a victory!
Bev was given man of the match for her excellent defensive display.
And after asking if there would be a clubhouse with a bar in at a school...I (Sarah Pearson) was given donkey.
Bring on next week ??
