Didsbury Grey's 2 vs Didsbury Northern 3s match report

This weekend saw Didsbury Greys 2's against Didsbury Northern's 3rd team. After last weekends victory against Northerns second team, Grey's came out in full force to maintain their winning form. The first half saw Grey's with majority of the possession and strong defending kept Didsbury Northern away from the Grey's goal. Greys continued excellent passing through the midfield and created chances working towards the first goal. Excellent passing through the midfield created the first goal where Shandy shot at the goal and with a deflection from the defenders stick, the ball went across the line making it 1-0. Throughout the first half, Grey's dominated play with lots of excellent passing and used the wings well. The second goal came when short bursts of passing through the midfield from Tracy, Ve and Shandy allowed the ball to slip through the Northern defence onto the stick of Sophie who was running into the D. With power, Sophie hit the ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the goal. The second half, Northern attacked strong but with great saves from Alice and strong defencive work, Northern struggled to score. With the pressure on, as play continued, both teams fought hard. Greys were awarded a short corner but unfortunately were unable to slot the ball into the goal. Beths shot hit the crossbar and Sophie who followed up the rebounding ball, with amusement, also hit the crossbar. Anyone would think they were playing crossbar challenge! With 15 minutes remaining Ve slotted home her 'newly signature finish' with the ball spectacularly finishing in the top corner of the net. What a goal! Needless to say, Ve still needs to work on her celebration! Unfortunately in typical Grey's fashion as they love being under pressure, Northern broke through the defence and managed to score resulting in a fight back. Now at 3-2, Northern fought hard but Grey's kept them out with solid defensive work from Millie, Kath and Tiph. Another 3 points to Greys and the winning streak continutes. Man of the match Kath for great defensive play. Donkey Sophie for getting lost trying to find the Armitage from the motorway.
