In a break from the league, the first cup match of the season saw Didsbury Greys 2s play Didsbury Northern 3s.
It was a very damp warm up with everyone soaked before the first whistle and the rain did not stop all match.
The first 15 mins saw some brilliant defence from Greys with Northern pressing hard, Shiv and Alicia were particularly solid at the back. Mid way through the first half saw a well worked goal form Northern, this was the only goal of the match.
The rest of the second half saw more excellent defending from Greys, and some good attacking play. Northern were a good side with some very skillful players.
After half time Greys started well showing what they can do in attack. Harriet being all over the pitch as usual and some excellent balls through to the forwards from Lucy and Anna M. The second half was much more even with greys showing they could play some good hockey. The 2nd half also saw Alice impressively saving a flick keeping the score at 1-0.
The last ten mins we pressed hard to get the equaliser but just couldn’t get it. Overall a very good performance against tough opposition with lots of positives to take from it.
