Bowden Ladies 3s vs Didsbury Greys 1s

Following a succinct team talk from captain Spraggs (and some insightful gems from Maz), we were ready to get out and prepare for what was sure to be a highly competitive match. Luckily, we had an excellent player up front to fill in for goal machine Sophie (Spraggs describing herself ?).

After a high energy warm-up, the team were ready and raring to go for this top of the table clash.
From the off, Greys stuck to the game plan, focusing on keeping possession and supporting one another across the pitch.
Our hard work paid off when Ro's pass across the D managed to find Spraggs who looped the ball over the keeper and into the net (flash as ever) to put Greys 1-0 up.

The work rate across the field was superb and this allowed Greys to make some awesome attacking runs. When Bowden did make breaks, the whole team worked back to defend and this prevented the opposition from getting themselves on the score sheet.
Greys determination continued into the second half and was rewarded when Lynsey scored an absolute peach of a goal on her reverse. As the clock ticked down, Bowden decided to try a new tactic, taking off their keeper and replacing her with an extra outfield player. This initially led to some disorganisation in the Greys team as we figured out the best way to deal with the change. This gave Bowden the opening that they needed when they were awarded a questionable short corner. Unfortunately, the ball took a deflection from a defender's foot and ended up in the net.

This was enough to refocus Greys who were determined not to throw away a hard earned lead. The whole team got behind the ball and defended for the final few minutes of the match. They were rewarded with a well deserved win against a strong Bowden side.

Player- Lynsey for excellent composure and distribution of the ball and that fantastic winning goal!

Special mention to the defence too for solid low tackles and good communication (Millie, Bev, Lauren, Maz and Alice in goal).

Donkey- Cate for forgetting her Astros and temporarily losing a sock ( thanks to Alice for coming to the rescue with a spare pair!)
