2020/21 season coaches

Exciting update for the Didsbury Greys... no not training (yet) but we are pleased to announce the coaches for the 2020/21 hockey season.

The Greys have got a cracking team of coaches bringing different experiences, skill-sets, and coaching styles to build confidence and hockey skills.

Introducing Chris Prentice (better known as Bailey). Bailey is the Grey's head coach and has several years in the sport playing for a range of clubs.
Bailey described a highlight for him being,
"My highlight being that one time I finally got close to someone and managed to make my first ever flat stick tackle!"
Bailey also added;
"Catch me at training shouting a load of things that I definitely don’t do when I play!"

Noel Disbury is another longstanding coach with the Didsbury Greys, with him going into his 4th year coaching the Greys and specifically the Women's 3s praising not only their competitiveness but their quality of baking. Noel has 30+ years experience on the hockey pitch, and still playing at a high standard with City of Manchester Men's 1s Team- although adds he is not sure how.
Noel added;
"I like my coaching like I like my music – repetitive! I’m a massive fan of basic skills and try to build my drills each week from the ground up to make sure that the sessions flow and the team is learning new things at each step, building their confidence and skill set."

His hockey goal is not only to get into the England O40 team as C19 stopped for COVID-19 in 2020 but to continue the momentum and progress with the women's 3s again this coming season.

Next up is Alex Hirst. Alex is our assistant coach, very motivated, and supportive of the coaches and players. Alex started with the club last year and has agreed to continue to contribute to the development of the club. Alex has played for the City of Manchester club, with the last 2 seasons being club captain and as a player-coach seeing his team through to promotion.
Alex is a great asset to the club, playing for county-level also, and is happy to help and support players.

And last but not least, our newest member of the coaching group Dursh Patel. Dursh will be coaching the Women's 2s. He plays for Didsbury Northern Men's 1s for several years, supporting the team get promotion to National League, and played county level too. Dursh has had experience coaching multiple teams both male and female, and will be a great addition to the Greys. Welcome aboard Dursh.
Dursh added;
"This will be my first season coaching Didsbury Greys Ladies and I’m looking forward to the challenge!"

So there is our coaching team for 2020/21. We hope as a club with the work from them, the player's efforts, as without them there is no club, and committee we will have a successful season for the entire club!
